Make it easy to unsubscribe – Sure you don’t want to actively encourage people to leave your list after you’ve worked so hard to sign them up, but if you make it difficult, complicated, or hide unsubscribe options, not only will you lose them mentally but instead of unsubscribing they’ll probably report you as spam. And make sure your process unsubscribes within a week (most email services do it automatically).

But while automations are designed to take some of the work and effort out of engaging with your customers, your emails should show that you care. You should take time to research what your customers like to help make your emails sound human and personal. However, action does not necessarily mean getting them to buy something immediately. It’s hard not to take the unsubscribes personally at first, especially for service-based business owners pouring their heart and soul into content. When you see people leave your list while you’re still trying to gain confidence and footing, it’s demoralizing. But it also doesn’t matter at all. In fact, it’s great. The people leaving aren’t right for you anyway, so they’re really doing you a favor.
For non automated emails and newsletters, you should always resend the same message to everyone who didn't open and or click your last email. This isn't always accurate, because email open tracking doesn't work if someone has images disabled. But doing this usually gets you an extra 20-30% boost.  I usually test out a totally new subject line on the resends. You can also rewrite part of the email with a different angle.

Depending on the products or services that your company offers, a newsletter could be a great fit. This is an especially good type of email campaign if you frequently publish blog posts or other informative articles. Your newsletter could simply be a roundup of your current content. People aren’t likely to read a word heavy email though. Email newsletters should be visually appealing.  Include concise headlines with a brief description of the article along with a pretty graphic.  Also include a clear call to action link for the recipient to read more. This allows you to include multiple pieces of content in order to appeal to a wider audience but without overwhelming the reader.
When choosing images for your email marketing campaigns, consider those that represent concepts or interpretations of the topics included in your email marketing campaign. Look for simple, but bold images that draw attention but aren’t too distracting for your recipient. It may take a little longer than expected, but spending extra time on image selection helps your email campaign pop!

This is the #1 mistake affiliates make with email marketing. While it’s great to have a list to sell to, you don’t want to be selling all the time. Break up the stream of email sales offers with some content. Aim for about an 80/20 split. That would be four straight emails that give great content to your reader and then one email of take, which is the selling part.
As mentioned before, the type of email campaign you send depends entirely on your goals with email.
