For non automated emails and newsletters, you should always resend the same message to everyone who didn't open and or click your last email. This isn't always accurate, because email open tracking doesn't work if someone has images disabled. But doing this usually gets you an extra 20-30% boost.  I usually test out a totally new subject line on the resends. You can also rewrite part of the email with a different angle.
Do you have a valuable resource that you can share with your new subscriber? Maybe a popular blog post you’ve written, a relevant video that’s been well received or maybe a simple 10% off discount code if you’re an online store. Whatever you can offer, it’s great to surprise your new follower by giving something away for free without them even asking for it.
7. Accurate reporting system. Sometimes, usually at the beginning of affiliate ventures, people need some time to find their feet; that is to say, pitch or strategy might need some fine-tuning. To achieve that, you need real-time stats; the system we use does exactly that. In this way, affiliates know exactly which of their campaigns brings in more money the moment the revenue is generated.
These metrics give you a high-level overview of how your subscribers are interacting with your campaigns and allow you to compare the success of one campaign to another. If you want to go deeper and see the exact people who opened and clicked your campaign, what links they clicked, etc. you can do so by choosing some of the other reports from the right hand side menu.
Break the Spam Laws: We’re no longer in the wild west when it comes to email communications. Congress passed the CAN-SPAM Act in 2003, and this law outlines several restrictions that apply to email marketing. The Federal Trade Commission, who is responsible for enforcing these laws, has outlined a compliance guide for businesses that you can find here. Some highlights include not using misleading or false information, including a valid postal address and promptly honoring opt outs. If you email any prospects in Canada too, you should also note the anti-spam laws there, which were updated in January 2015. You can learn more about Canada’s anti-spam laws here.
In dividing your list in this manner, you give yourself the ability to send more targeted communication. Some customers want both product and sales updates, while others might only want to hear about new versions. If you don’t give them the chance to choose, you risk losing them all-together. Since customers make the best buyers, it’s fairly obvious why you want to keep them subscribed to your customer email list.

The content you create and share should engage people in ways that make them clients in the future. Start by asking, “Whose attention am I trying to keep and what would they be interested in seeing from me?” If it’s on brand for you, it’s also valuable to them. Do this, and people will love you for sharing your expertise with them and will ask for more (or, at least, stay subscribed long enough to get to know you and your business better until the the time is right for them to buy).
After you have found an advertiser that you want to promote and have signed up for their affiliate program through an advertising network, you will be given hyperlinks to use that will track any sales that you generate. They may also include an image tag that serves as a tracking pixel for you to include in your email. You will write a sales and marketing email to your audience as you normally would for one of your own company’s products and services. Use the hyperlink they provided you as the hyperlink in your call-to-action so that sales are properly tracked. If they provided a tracking pixel, place it in your HTML at the bottom of your email so that the number of times the offer was viewed can be properly tracked by the affiliate program.
Fortunately, the answer is no. Most folks – upwards of 95% of Americans – are sales-averse, i.e. they don’t like pitching goods to others AND they don’t like being bombarded with high-pressure sales tactics. However, they are willing to consider offers from people they know, like and trust. This is where you and your subscriber list come in. You might have heard the old saying, "people hate to be sold but they love to buy".
Send a welcome email or series of emails to new subscribers.These emails earn 9x more money than promotional newsletters, and they turn your subscribers into customers. At this point, 74.4% of customers actually claim they expect to receive a welcome email. Don’t let them down. Emails that are overly promotional quickly turn potential customers into irritated readers who won’t think twice about hitting the delete button or, worse, reporting it as spam.

He has established himself as an online business experts and recommends tools, products and services to his audience that can help them build their online businesses. He only promotes products that he can personally recommend and is always transparent when he receives an affiliate commission for promoting something. He has built such a large audience and has gotten so effective at affiliate marketing that the commissions he generates through affiliate marketing have become far larger than the actual revenue he makes from his other online businesses. It’s not uncommon for Flynn to generate between $50,000 and $100,000 each month through his affiliate marketing efforts.
Experimenting with subject lines is another crucial aspect of mastering the art of good email marketing strategy. The use of subject lines for promotional emails is one of the most controversial topics amongst email marketers. There are many different opinions out there about which ones work best. The truth is, however, that there is no unique formula for making the perfect subject line and every brand has to find its own way to be noticed in their customers’ inboxes.
A (potential) customer has subscribed, now what? The first follow-up email the (potential) customer receives after signing up is crucial to the success of your email marketing campaign. Using the email service provider you have selected (i.e. MailChimp, Constant Contact, GetResponse etc.), employ the autoresponder sequence for this immediate follow-up email. Whatever form your newsletter takes, know it’s just one of many touchpoints. But it’s the most direct way to speak to the people who may be your clients someday consistently with no marginal cost. Focus on delivering value to them—even if there’s only 10 of them at first. For most service businesses just two or three new clients for the year is such a big payoff that nurturing a small list of interested subscribers thoughtfully is completely worth it. However, if you sell low cost products then quantity is important and building a huge list would be your goal.    
While all of these tactics are excellent ways to make money using email marketing, they’ll most likely fall flat without some killer email copy or content to win over your potential buyers. Focus on the reader first. You should always write your emails to address the needs of your subscribers, not yours. Offer ways to solve their problems, don’t simply talk about your products and how great they are. (This is a part that so many companies get wrong.) Ask yourself, what are the biggest pain points/struggles for my subscribers? How can I solve their current problem in this email?
Finally, your email marketing campaign can only succeed if you have a relevant list of quality consumers to target with your messages. Building a quality email list helps your marketing campaign succeed because it targets consumers already interested in your product. Many people end up on email lists because they sign up voluntarily. With a list of relevant consumers, you are putting ads in front of the eyeballs of consumers with an expressed interest in the products and services you promote.

Like its app, website, social media photos, and other parts of the visual branding, the emails are represented by bright colors and geometric patterns. All of its communications and marketing assets tell the brand's story -- and brand consistency is one tactic Uber's nailed in order to gain brand loyalty.

Be thoughtful about what you’re putting out. If you run an IT firm and you think your audience might enjoy funny cartoons every week, make sure the cartoons are both on brand for your company, and that the content relates to your industry and its challenges that you solve. Images and illustrations that are completely unrelated to what you do probably aren’t going to help you very much; they’ll just be a cheap trick.
Know your spam rules. A lot of innocent people send spam because they didn't know any better. Read up on the CAN-SPAM act to avoid any trouble. Put simply, you're allowed to send bulk email only to people who specifically asked to be on your mailing list. If you collected email addresses for a lunch giveaway or an event invitation, then you don't have permission to send marketing emails unless you made that clear at signup. Include an obvious unsubscribe link in every email, and don't forget to remind subscribers how they got on your list in the first place.
At some point in your email campaigns, even if they once opted into your emails, some recipients may not want to hear from you anymore. That’s ok (and a natural part of the email lifecycle), as long as you have a solid unsubscribe system in place for these users. The ability to unsubscribe from your email program should never be challenging and should be available in one click.
What if you used an autoresponder instead? That way you could create two, three, even ten email messages all at once. One blog post per email works well. Then schedule each message in the autoresponder to go out every seven days. Viola. You now have what looks like a weekly newsletter, but is actually an autoresponder. And you now have a lot more free time.
Well, charity: water took an alternate route. Once someone donates to a charity: water project, her money takes a long journey. Most charities don't tell you about that journey at all -- charity: water uses automated emails to show donors how their money is making an impact over time. With the project timeline and accompanying table, you don't even really need to read the email -- you know immediately where you are in the whole process so you can move onto other things in your inbox.
In 2018 a new law known as the GDPR will come into play in Europe that will affect anyone that sells to EU citizens. It’s focus is on ensuring customers have more control over their personal data. We’re not 100% sure on the impact this will have over email marketing, but it’s looking like double opt-in will be helpful. If you haven’t researched into this yet, it’s well worth doing so.
We suggest sending an email at least once a month to keep your subscribers engaged, but don’t feel you need to commit to this immediately. And be sure to look ahead and plan accordingly if you think your sending frequency will change for special events and holidays—you don’t want to surprise customers if you typically send once a month but suddenly start sending a stream of emails leading up to a Black Friday sales event.
Whether you are an affiliate marketer, or do affiliate email marketing as a side-business to complement your income and your current services, it is in your best interest to find the highest-converting programs to promote. Essentially, market research requires your investing time, energy and effort in discovering what is a win-win solution both for your client and your reputation, as well as your income.
Promote your email sign-up on your website, blog, landing pages, “thank you” pages (after users have filled out a form), as well as at any live events. Most importantly, communicate what they are signing up for when they submit their email address. Building your subscriber lists the right way will ensure that email engagement remains high and your emails get in front of the eyes that matter.
Include a Bonus – In order to make sure that a subscriber signs up for something through your affiliate link, create a bonus product that’s only available to subscribers that sign-up through your affiliate link. You can use one of your existing products or can create an educational piece of content to serve as your bonus. Have subscribers forward you the welcome email or the receipt that they get from the advertiser in exchange for the bonus product that you create.
