iContact. It’s a marketing automation solution with a powerful email marketing tool. iContact features lead generation and lead scoring to help you nurture the most promising prospects. The app has a landing-page builder, with options for HTML or template-based layout.  As a mailer, the app includes standard email marketing software tools, such as segmentation, A/B testing and list management. Moreover, it comes with social media management and analytics that allow for generating funnel reports. Other notable features are CRM, engagement tracking and workflow automation.

Autoresponders. It helps you send multi-tiered emails based on recipient’s feedback. Email marketing software provides tools that let you map your main email to different paths. One path can lead to lead nurturing, while another to your shopping cart; yet another to trash for lack of promise. You can set triggers to launch the autoresponder, for example, when someone clicks a download button, signs up for a free trial or purchases from your online store.
When customers leave your site without buying anything, retargeting creates the awareness they need about your brand and a clear path back to your store. Ideally, retargeting is part of a long-term strategy for businesses that already have a solid following. They are particularly helpful in specific moments, like when you want to promote your best selling stuff, advertise a new collection, or feature surplus items. See how retargeting ads work around the clock to keep your brand top of mind and encourage potential customers to take the next step.
We added individual contacts, copy and pasted groups, and imported files to find out how simple it is to build your email lists. If you’re just getting started with email marketing, this may not seem important, but if you’re migrating large numbers of subscribers from one email service to another, the ease with which you can import contacts will save you significant amounts of time and energy.
Analytics & reports. As with most business solutions, analytics and reports in email marketing software lend to your campaigns insights on its effectiveness. You get to measure key metrics like open rates, CTRs, readers’ length of stay on your email, trending content and demographics. Many email marketing apps also feature real-time campaign tracker that streams metrics as they occur, which helps you quickly shift the campaign if the results prove dismal.
Where they should improve: Unfortunately, this ease of use doesn’t apply to the autoresponder editor. You can’t view autoresponders in a workflow, and they’re not very flexible (you can’t send autoresponders to send after an hour, for example, and you can’t set sending time ranges). Historically, Benchmark haven’t performed so great in our deliverability tests, either.
Paid Pricing: Mailchimp offers two paid tiers called ”Growing Business” and ”Pro Marketer”. At $25 per month the ”Growing Business” plan allows for 1,1511 to 2,500 subscribers per month and allows for unlimited emails with demographic and email a/b testing features. The “Pro Marketer” tier sells for $199 per month for enterprise-level companies’ high-volume subscriber lists. This package includes more in-depth reporting and multivariate a/b testing features.
Have you ever heard of email campaign feedback? Email feedback plays an important role in customer-centricity. By collecting this feedback within your email campaigns, you provide a platform for two-way communication with your customers where they can share their thoughts and perceptions of your email(s) and the information you’ve provided. In other words, you as an email marketer gain insight into what your readers truly value.

You can shoot videos in BombBomb's app, upload pre-created videos, or pull in YouTube videos, then send them out as email newsletters with text and other details you want. Then, your contacts can reply with video messages of their own, recording a new video email online and sending it back to you through BombBomb. It sounds crazy, but might be the way to break up the monotony of text emails and get your contacts' attention.

If you want the simplest way to send an email newsletter, and don't have more than 5,000 subscribers, you can't get any simpler than Tinyletter. An insanely simple email newsletter app from the MailChimp team, Tinyletter has no email templates, no integrations with other apps, and almost no features—it's the only app on this list that doesn't include Zapier integrations. All it lets you do is make a landing page for people to signup, then write text-focused emails and send them to your subscribers in a click.

The email software can be learned and used to benefit your business. But the time it takes to learn how to use it and the best way to use it can be time consuming and a lot of trial and error. Although a email marketing service can get that out their for you, the cost can be overwhelming. So, you are going to want someone that also does your social media work as well in order to know your product and get the message out that you want. There are companies out there that can do both and...
We were impressed by GetResponse’s customer service. After finding an error in our account registration, we called the support line and were helped immediately by a representative who was extremely polite, understanding, and who never tried to upsell us. Maybe it was just compared to MailChimp’s lack of service options (email support is only available for the first 30 days of the Forever Free plan), but we found ourselves particularly grateful to have our concerns addressed promptly and personally.

I’ve always been a mailchimp user myself, and I have to say I really like their UI but I’m always open to new options. I’ve dabbled in a couple of the other email marketing providers like Pure360 – but find them so clunky and annoying to use (despite them looking really pretty and having great templates) that I always end up going back to good old mailchimp. I haven’t used GetResponse yet, I’ll give their free trial a shot :)

However, it is simple to use and gives the essential features you need to manage and grow your subscriber list.
No mailing list. There is no point getting email marketing software if you lack a mailing list. The first step is to create a plan on building the list. This means promoting incentives like value content, deals or exclusive offers and, perhaps, tapping paid channels to put your opt-in landing page out there. Buying a purchased list is seldom cost-effective and your unsolicited emails can easily trigger spam filters.

Email marketing tools are tools that marketers use to create, send, test, optimize and report on their email campaigns. What we liked: MailerLite’s ease of use makes it an ideal tool for getting started with autoresponders – even beginners can master setting up emails and campaigns fairly quickly. And it’s great that you can use all the features completely free of charge (as long as you have fewer than 1,000 subscribers). If you do need to upgrade, it’s one of the most competitively priced providers on the market – so it’s a great way to set up cheap autoresponders.
ConvertKit is email marketing software designed specifically for bloggers. The software combines simple sending with the automation and tagging features that professional bloggers need. While ConvertKit was built with bloggers in mind, that doesn't mean you must be a blogger in the traditional sense to use it. Its customers are also podcasters, service-based business owners, course creators and YouTubers, among others.
If your team is making investments into PPC ad campaigns on platforms like Google, Bing, Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn, it's probably a bit of a hassle to manage all the different ad campaigns you're running across each different network. Besides just managing them, you then have to try and report on the results of all of them. What a struggle. Luckily, there's a tool for that.
No/limited advanced features. The features offered by different products vary—some include advanced features while others reserve it for their premium plans. You may need some features that are not in the plan such as A/B testing, autoresponders, spam filter diagnostics, and social media monitoring, among others. If so, it is more cost-effective to upgrade to affordable premium plans that contain the features you actually need.

👉 Overall, Infusionsoft really has it all in terms of richness of features and different things you can do. However, it’s not particularly easy to grasp when you first get into it, and therefore I would not recommend it to beginners or small business owners who just want to get started with some basic automations. Here’s more on Infusionsoft’s automation features.
